This is the Lord’s Prayer adapted by St Francis of Assisi:
OUR Most Holy FATHER, Our Creator, Redeemer, Consoler and Saviour
WHO ARE IN HEAVEN: In the angels and the saints, enlightening them to love, because You, Lord, are light. Inflaming them to love, because you, Lord, are love. Dwelling in them and filling them with happiness, because you, Lord, are the Supreme Good, the Eternal Good from Whom comes all good without Whom there is no good.
HALLOWED BE YOUR NAME: May our knowledge of you become ever clearer That we may know the breadth of Your blessings the length of Your promises the height of Your majesty the depths of Your judgements.
YOUR KINGDOM COME: So that You may rule in us through Your grace and so enable us to come to Your kingdom where there is an unclouded vision of You a perfect love of You a blessed companionship with You an eternal enjoyment of You.
YOUR WILL BE DONE ON EARTH AS IT IS IN HEAVEN: That we may love You with our whole heart by always thinking of You and with our whole soul by always desiring You with our whole mind by directing all our intentions to You and by seeking Your glory in everything and with our whole strength by spending all our energies and affections of soul and body in the service of Your love and of nothing else and may we love our neighbours as ourselves by drawing them all with our whole strength to Your love by rejoicing in the good fortunes of others as well as our own and by sympathising with the misfortunes of others and by giving offence to no one.
GIVE US THIS DAY: In memory and understanding, and reverence of the love which our Lord Jesus Christ had for us and of those things which He said and did and suffered for us.
OUR DAILY BREAD: Your own beloved Son, our Lord Jesus Christ.
AND FORGIVE US OUR TRESPASSES: Through Your ineffable mercy through the power of the passion of Your Beloved Son together with the merits and intercession of the Blessed Virgin Mary and all your chosen ones.
AS WE FORGIVE THOSE WHO TRESPASS AGAINST US: and whatever we do not forgive perfectly, do You, Lord, enable us to forgive to the full so that we may truly love our enemies and fervently intercede for them before You returning no one evil for evil and striving to help everyone in You.
AND LEAD US NOT INTO TEMPTATION: Hidden or obvious Sudden or persistent.
BUT DELIVER US FROM EVIL: Past, present and to come. Glory to the Father and to the Son and to the Holy Spirit As it was in the beginning, is now, and will be forever. Amen.

We ask you to fill your people with Holy Spirit empowered obedience to Your word throughout 2021, that we may all be in a manner worthy of the calling we have received… there is one body, one Spirit, one Lord, one faith and one baptism… continue to give wisdom to leaders across the Hunter as we learn how to express our unity in Christ together… pray for religious buildings across the Hunter and we ask that You would draw us together more and more as we realise there is one church in this country. Testimony from Garth: Back on April 14th he was diagnosed with bowel cancer, had 5 weeks of radiation and chemotherapy, travelling down every day to the Mater hospital, followed by a surgery that removed the cancer, a hernia and his appendix all at once. Now he’s on chemo tablets, taking 8 tablets a day, but only has 3 more rounds of that. He is carrying a stoma at the moment which is a challenge. God’s grace has been amazing all the way through, and he’s experienced His peace in his heart like never before and his family church have been amazing, gathering around and supporting him. God is good and his health is good – he got a report that there is not a trace of cancer in his body! Giving praise to God!

“We pray that Your strategy would be outworked through the passionate prayers of Your people that just love Your kingdom and desire to see Your kingdom come in many ways. “Thank you for the men and the women that you have called into your service through the education department, through childcare, through local government, through welfare workers and people that work in the health department. Thank you for those frontline workers, for those who have had the courage and bravery to put their hand up and say ‘I will go’ to the places that you have called them, thank you for their obedience, thank you for their faithfulness.. I pray you would continue to give them strength and Your empowerment and your grace to do what You have called them to do, especially in areas where they are being challenged and where it’s becoming difficult to share their faith through chaplaincy and scripture teaching. I pray that you would continue to open doors before them that no-one can shut, that You would give them a favour that is undeniable to see Your word go out to the children and the young people and families across the Hunter who so desperately need the hope of Your gospel Lord, we lift these people to You and thank You that You have given them all that they need in order to fulfil the calling you have placed upon their life, I pray for Your peace to guard their hearts and their minds in Christ Jesus, that they would fix their eyes on You, that they would have people around them to encourage them and spur them on if they are flagging, and that Your presence is within them, goes before them, is preparing the way for them, give them a perseverance not to give up because the world needs the gifts and the talents that they bring, particularly the Hunter needs the gifts and the talents they bring because You are calling Your children back to Yourself and we thank You for their work, bless their hands, bless their feet that carry Your word and Your light and Your hope, into the places that are lost and full of darkness, thank You that Your light shines, and we commit them to You in Your name Jesus, Amen.” JASMINE RUIGROK (schools and scripture union)
